After writing your resume there are some guidelines you should abide by before submitting your resume for review. By following these guidelines you will glaze your resume with success ultimately increasing your chances of being selected for a job.
- Cater to your audience. Although you may want to tell everyone of your high score on pacman, remarkable as it is, many employers might not need to know of such an achievement. Your resume should highlight your qualities which will allow you to perform at a job. Some of your achievements which you may see as great may not be what your job is looking for
- Do not just put job descriptions, identify what you achieved in that job. Many employers want to see their work environment improved which could make you a valuable employee if you have brought improvements to other jobs.
- Format your resume accordingly. Knowing that someone will have to read your resume you should make it as easy as possible to do so. Having creative fonts may be nice; However, the employer may have trouble reading such fonts which would appaul some employers. Choosing a clear font such as Times New Roman will allow for a more legible resume and increase your chances of being hired.
